Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra and it is also listed as the largest city of India. Mumbai is known as the financial capital of India. It is also known as Indian Bollywood city. The old name of the city was Bombay it is distortions of the Portuguese slogan bom bahia that means “good bay”. And the new name was become famous after an act by the Parliament in 1997 that pays a tribute to the local Goddess Mumba Ma. Mumbai city is located on the Salsette Island and it consists of seven islands namely Colaba, Mazagaon, Old Woman’s Island, Wadala, Mahim, Parel, and Matunga-Sion. Here you will find the Asia’s largest slum named as Dharavi. Mumbai is the fourth largest city for population in the world. Mumbai is having the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and the corporate powerhouse of many Indian top business companies.
